Review: The Rocking Horse Winner

Even moon-tanned indie lovers need their own feel good summer tune, and “Orange Blossom” from the Rocking Horse Winner is a prime pick. On Horizon, their debut on Equal Vision Records, the band bleeds pop hooks with succulent optimism. Jolie Lindholm, aka “the girl on Dashboard Confessional’s albums,” leads the band with her majestic harmonies and sugarcoated lyrics, oft compared to the Sundays and Bettie Serveet. For now, their publicity has been banked on the Dashboard connection, but with the talent apparent, their story will be their own.
