Located on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach, Hip Hair is a San Diego salon that local hipsters naturally gravitate toward.

With eight stylists, the quirky salon proudly commands organic territory. They only use products by Bumble and Bumble and Sudzz FX and Crew simply because of their dedication to keeping their guests’ hair in tip-top healthy shape. Pabst Blue Ribbon beer is served to loyal customers, and Hip stylists live and die to make clients happy – and warm.

Beer inclusive means you get to put your mug on their wall, becoming a Hip Hair VIP member, and every time you come in for an appointment it is appropriately filled. A t-shirt and coupons are also included; total price is thirty dollars a year. Salon services are as follows: men’s haircuts, men’s head shaves, women’s haircuts, partial and full highlights, and color. Styling includes up-dos, perms, and dreads. They offer waxing as well; services include the eyebrow, lip, and chin.

Always in-tune with charitable events, Hip Hair throws occasional events to help the community. The last event, quite fittingly named Save the TAs-TAs, raised over a grand for the Breast Cancer Fundraiser.

Aesthetically, your eyes will never get bored. The Hip walls don psychedelic flowers and forests, birds, coffins, sexy women, and retro colors. Forget about the possibility of not sharing a conversation with your stylist. Hip Hair stylists are bound to talk your head off about booze, tunes, and parties.

Insider tip: Pacific Beach Hip Hair’s MySpace blogs offer wit and rants about blonde jokes, and haircut dos and don’ts.
