Review: San Diego Ivy Hotel

By now, we are all familiar with the burgeoning and expanding hospitality scene in downtown San Diego. The most comprehensive and complete dining and entertainment package in San Diego is at the Ivy Hotel.

At the forefront of style, the Ivy Hotel offers the Quarter Kitchen, Envy nightclub and the rooftop bar Eden. Oozing high society, you’ll find guests bragging travel, chitchatting San Diego business, and smothering each other with deluded compliments. Eden is the standard for San Diegans; it boasts a pool, a sundeck, cabanas, expansive rooftop bar, a view of Qualcomm Stadium and the Gaslamp Quarter, and waitresses with Greek toga-like apparel.

At Envy, women are always dressed to impress – they stun well-established downtown men and gain envious hatred from girls who belong in Pacific Beach. Guests in the past have included Jessica Alba and Dane Cook, and don’t plan to see yourself on a VIP list – unless you’re a DiscoverSD Insider on Seduction Thursday.

Dining at the Quarter Kitchen is a sweet-tooth’s delight. The S’mores are to die for and the Hawaiian Baked Alaska make anyone’s taste buds for Charlie’s Chocolate disappear. Late dinner is an option for night owls; the kitchen closes at 11pm on the weekends, and 10pm during the week.

If you’re hosting a meeting try The Quarter Kitchen’s wine cellar. Serving six to eight guests, the cellar is glass-encased and contains 3,200 bottles in an extremely intimate setting. What sets the Quarter Kitchen apart is the luxurious interior décor, the outside lighting, postmodern seating, and a locally renowned menu from celebrity Chef Damon Gordon.
